There is are major problem with ebooks, or any digital archive, and that is what is the shelf life of the documents and if current technology fails then how do we read them. At least with paper books you don’t need electricity or computers to access the information. io9 has a summary of a recent [...] The SAE has now finished digitizing thier ligrary of technical papers written between 1906 and 1979 and they are now available as downloadable PDF documents. This means that the Society’s entire library of 88,000 documents is not avaialbe electronically. You can find the library here. (via Resource Shelf) |
